David Simelane to Hang

on April 2, 2011 in Serial Killers by

David Simelane was sentenced to hang in Mbabane, Swaziland Friday for the murder of 28 people. Friends and family of his victims, as well as women’s rights groups, celebrated the verdict outside the courtroom.

The case had drug on for over a decade. Judge Jacobus Annandale had been expected to only hear mitigation arguments, but instead he brought the trial to an end only nine days after conviction.

Simelane is expected to appeal both the conviction and the sentencing. No one has been executed in Swaziland since 1983.
