Report: Suffolk County Police Commissioner Ousted
on April 28, 2011 in Law Enforcement, Unsubs by Brian CombsRumors, which started with the New York Post, are swirling that Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer has been ousted after allegations have been made that he botched the investigation into the Gilgo Beach Serial Killer. Apparently, he publicly disclosed details of the crimes that were supposed to be kept secret.
Investigators regularly keep details of serial murder secret so that serial killers can be differentiated from serial confessors.
The belief is that Dormer will be allowed to work one more month, but then is out. A spokesman for Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy denis the charge:
[Levy] has not asked [Dormer] to resign. He’s extraordinarily happy with . . . his work.
I don’t have the original quote, so I don’t know if the edits included change the meaning in any way.
