Judge Sweet Denies Joseph Naso Postponement

on August 24, 2011 in Serial Killers by

According to the Marin Independent Journal, Judge Andrew Sweet has denied Joseph Naso’s request for a postponement in Naso’s trial for the murder of four women.

Naso claims to be having trouble finding an attorney that measures up to his standards. He said:

It’s not so much the question of spending money to retain counsel but of retaining someone I can trust and feel confident of to represent me.

The bottom line is, if I can find an attorney who is reasonable and is not just out for my money, I would consider that.

Naso seems to have given up on the idea that the State would pay for his attorney, but seems to be unsure whether he wants to hire assistant counsel, or someone to represent him completely:

If you were to ask me right now do I want counsel or do I want to represent myself, I can’t answer that.

Judge Sweet didn’t view that as a sufficient reason to delay the proceedings, and set a hearing for 9am on September 2nd. At that hearing, procedural matters will be reviewed.
