Joseph Naso No Longer Representing Himself
on September 3, 2011 in Serial Killers by Brian CombsA public defender was appointed by Marin County judge Andrew Sweet on Friday after Joseph Naso finally decided he could not represent himself in his trial for the murder of four women. He had been granted permission to represent himself, and then to hire assisting legal counsel, but had waffled back and forth on what he wanted to do.
David Brown of the Marin County public defender’s office has been appointed to represent Naso. Sweet previously ruled Naso ineligible for public assistance on his legal fees, so Naso will have to pay Brown himself.
Brown has requested time to review the case. They will be in court on October 11 to set a new date for the preliminary hearing.
