Joseph Naso Wants to Represent Himself (Again)
on September 18, 2011 in Serial Killers by Brian CombsFirst, Joseph Naso wanted to represent himself. Then, he wanted to represent himself, but with advisory counsel. After that, he said he a public defender to represent him.
On Thursday, Naso again filed a motion to represent himself. And on Friday, Judge Andrew Sweet granted the motion.
Said Marin County District Attorney Ed Berberian:
Legally, he (Judge Sweet) had to grant the request. He (Naso) has that right.
This maneuver by Naso causes another delay in the proceedings. The preliminary hearing was set to start on October 11, 2011, but it has now been moved back to January 3, 2012.
I haven’t decided whether this is simply a delaying ploy by Naso, or if he really does have such a brutal combination of arrogance and incompetence.
