Jury Selection Underway for Jeffery Lee Guillory

on September 20, 2011 in Serial Killers by

Jury selection began in Baton Rouge Monday in the trial of Jeffery Lee Guillory for the 2002 death of Renee Newman. It is expected to conclude today, with opening statements beginning on Wednesday.

Due to Louisiana law, prosecutors cannot seek the death penalty in Renee’s death, as too much time has passed since the crime occurred.

Prosecutor Dana Cummings expects to convict based upon DNA evidence and videotaped interrogations by police.
