Danny Hembree Convicted of Murder

on November 9, 2011 in Serial Killers by

A Gaston County jury took only four hours Tuesday to convict Danny Hembree of the murder of 17-year-old Heather Catterton in 2009. Reportedly, Hembree made a throat-slashing gesture as he was taken out of the courtroom. The gesture was made towards his family.

As a result, Hembree was put on suicide watch and taken to the medical area of the Gaston County Jail. He was made to wear a paper gown, which apparently angered him considerably.

He was still angry this morning, and refused to get dressed to be taken into court to being the sentencing phase of his trial.

Superior Court Judge Beverly Beal did not want to proceed without his being in court.

He needs to be here. It is essential that he is involved. It’s in his best interest.

The judge said she would speak to Hembree in open court to gauge his demeanor and their ability to move forward. Jurors were kept in the jury room while this was discussed in the courtroom.
