on January 30, 2012 in Serial Killers by

A court in Moscow has sentenced 32-year-old Vladimir Mirgorod to life in prison. He had been found guilty of raping and strangling to death fifteen women and one teenager between 2002 and 2004.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said:

The crimes had not been cleared up for a time long as the criminal was serving a sentence for rape and robbery between 2005 and 2010.

Mirgorod was released from prison in 2010. Investigators then discovered that his fingerprints matched those left at four previous crime scenes, leading to his being re-arrested.
