Two More Murder Charges Pending for Itzcoatl Ocampo
on February 4, 2012 in Alleged Serial Killers by Brian CombsTony Rachauckas, the Orange County District Attorney, announced Friday that Itzcoatl Ocampo will be charged with the murders of Raquel Estrada and her son, Juan Herrera in Yorba Linda, California. Ocampo is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
Eder Herrera, the son and brother of the victims, has been held in custody for the murders for three months. Charges against him were dropped on Friday. Some reports have him being released Friday night; others say he will be released today.
Raquel Estrada was stabbed more than thirty times and left for dead in her kitchen. Juan Herrera was stabbed more than sixty times. He apparently tried to escape out the front door, was dragged back into the house, and was left in the hallway.
A witness claimed to have seen Eder Herrera dragging something from outside into the front door. Eder claimed he was driving around with a friend that night, which investigators felt was suspicious.
Investigators say that the noticed similarities between these Yorba Linda murders, and the four murders that Ocampo has been charged with. DNA found at Ocampo’s home reportedly linked Ocampo definitively to the crimes.
