David Gore Execution Scheduled for Thursday Evening

on April 11, 2012 in Serial Killers by

David Alan Gore is scheduled to be executed at Florida State Prison in Starke, Florida Thursday at 6pm for the 1983 murder of Lynn Elliot. The Florida State Supreme Court rejected his appeal Monday.

Tuesday, Gore’s attorneys appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. They asked for a stay of execution and an order that his claim of ineffectual legal counsel be heard.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 7-2 last month that federal courts must hear a convict’s claim of receiving ineffective legal assistance for appeals alleging the trial lawyers had also been ineffective.

No, I don’t really understand that either.

In general, the U.S. Supreme Court has been hesitant to intervene in death penalty cases, but with it relating to such a recent decision, I do not know how they will rule.
