The Santa Ana, California district attorney announced Monday that prosecutors will seek the death penalty for Izcoatl Ocampo, who is accused of six counts of murder. His trial is set to begin September 10.

Grand jury testimony released in March says that Ocampo told investigators he wanted to kill 16 people, as an homage to mass murderer Charles Whitman, who shot 16 people from the clock tower on the University of Texas campus.
