DNA Confuses the Issue for Carlton Gary

on December 14, 2010 in Serial Killers by

Carlton Gary, the so-called “Columbus Stocking Strangler” was convicted of the rap and murder of three elderly women in the late 1970’s. He is on death row in Georgia.

The Georgia Supreme Court halted his execution with just four hours to go in December 2009. It ordered a judge to consider DNA testing, which was not available during his trial in 1984.

The test showed that he did rape one of the women, but that a different man raped one of the others. Gary has contented all along that he was framed.

That doesn’t seem likely at this point, but it appears that Gary either worked as part of a team, or that there were actually two separate unsubs.

Ah Awesome! Theres so many interesting subjects I’m sure whatever you cast about will be good. Some of the ones that I find most interesting though are Elizabeth Báthory and the Bloody Benders. There isn’t much information about the Bender family out there but it’s still fascinating.
