Chester Turner Charged with Four More Murders

on February 2, 2011 in Serial Killers by

Already on death row for the murder of ten women and one unborn fetus, Chester Turner has been charged with four more murders in LA County.

In one of the cases, the 1997 murder of Cynthia Annette Johnson, the case had been cleared by an arrest and unsuccessful prosecution of another man. Evidence on the Johnson murder was inadvertently included in a backlog of untested sexual assault kits, and when it was tested, it matched Turner.

In two of the other cases, another man was wrongly convicted. After eleven years behind bars, he was released in 2004, when DNA linked Turner to the murders.

In the fourth case, DNA made the connection to Turner after he had already been charged with the initial ten killings.

Said LA County Deputy District Attorney Robert Grace:

He needs to be held accountable for what he did. It’s very important for everyone in the city, particularly those in South L.A., that the justice system does value the lives of people killed.
