Gary Ridgway Pleads Guilty to Number 49

Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer, celebrated his 62nd birthday on Friday by pleading guilty to his 49th murder. Ridgway killed Rebecca Marrero, a 20-year-old prostitute, in December 1982. She is believed to be one of his first murders.

Ridgway admitted to killing Marrero during his 2003 plea bargain, but the murder could not be confirmed until her remains were found last December. Once the identity of the remains was confirmed to be Marrero, Ridgway was formally charged with her murder.
