Additional Charges for Elias Abuelazam Expected Today

Elias Abuelazam, dubbed “The Serial Slasher” by the media, is a suspected in 18 stabbings in Flint, Ohio and Leesburg, Virginia. He has been charged with one count of assault with intent to commit murder for an attack on July 27. His attorney says he expects his client to be charged with at least one count of murder today, as well as four more counts of assault with intent to commit murder.
Police claim that Abuelazam, an Arab Israeli, would drive around at night, approach men who were walking alone, ask for directions or help with his vehicle, and stab them. As most of his alleged victims have been African American, police suspect a racial motivation.
He was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection on August 11th in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as he attempted to board a Delta Airlines flight to Tel Aviv.
Updated 9/21/2010: Abuelezam was arraigned Monday for the August 2nd killing of Arnold Minor, plus the stabbings of Bill Fisher on June 26th, Devon Rawls on July 28th, and Etwan Wilson on August 1st.
