Billy Dean Battenfield
Billy Dean Battenfield was born on June 22, 1953.
Battenfield’s victims were elderly people between the ages of 50 and 83. They were usually male, with the exception of one female victim. While there is not a lot of information released about the deaths of his previous victims. it is known that Battenfield’s most recent victim had been stabbed to death. In nearly all of the cases the victims had their credit cards or social security checks stolen and Battenfield would cash them at a later time. Before Battenfield’s original arrest for the murder of 3 people he would dispose of the bodies by leaving the remains in culverts or at the bottoms of wells, while his most recent victim was left at the scene of the crime.
It is believed that in all of the murders Battenfield committed he had the company of a much younger male. In the first 3 murders which took place before 1978 Battenfield was in the company of a 15 year old boy. In his most recent murder he had a 19 year old partner in crime, Brandon Reed. Some experts claim that he would take younger males with him because he saw them as weak and vulnerable, just like his victims.
In 1979, Battenfield was arrested for the murder of one male and confessed to an additional 2 murders. He was found guilty and served his time in prison until 2000 when he was released on parole and committed murder once again. On November 22, 2011 Battenfield and his alleged partner in crime, Brandon Reed, were arrested for the murder of one victim. Both Battenfield and Reed are on trial for this murder.
