Charles Howard Schmid Jr. was born on July 8, 1942 to an unwed mother. He was adopted by Charles and Katharine Schmif the day after he was born in Tucson, Arizona.
Schmid did not do well in school, but according to records he was well-mannered and attractive. He never completed high school as he wad caught stealing tools from school and never returned.
Schmid began his serial series at the age of 21 and would choose Caucasian females between the ages of 13 – 18. It is believed that his method of killing was to either beat his victims with rocks or strangle them to death.
He was arrested on November 10, 1965 for the murders of three women. He was convicted and sentenced to death for the murders of the Fritz sisters and 50 years in prison for the murder of Alleen Rowe. Schmid died in Maricopa County Hospital from wounds he suffered in a prison attack against him on March 30, 1975.
