Daniel Harold Rolling was born in Louisiana on May 26, 1954. He was born the first of 2 children in his family.

From a young age Rolling experienced physical and emotional abuse at the hands of his father. It was noted that Rolling was constantly hit if his father believed that he was crawling wrong before the age of 2. Rolling was often tied up with his brother and beaten. At the age of 5, his father brought a dog home and abused it to the point that it died in Rolling’s arms. His mother was known to have nervous breakdowns due to the abuse and had attempted suicide on numerous occasions. Rolling abused alcohol throughout his life, abused or killed animals and and was arrested for intoxication, robbery and voyeurism.

It is believed that Rolling began his murder series in 1989, but was never formally charged with these murders. HIs known murder series began in 1990, at the age of 36, and ended the same year. His known victims were between the ages of 17 and 24. Most of his victims were female, though he had murdered one male so that he could rape and murder the male’s female companion. Rolling was known to have tortured his victims by removing their nipples and raping them. On some occasions he would return to the crime scene and engage in intercourse with the bodies. Rolling’s weapon of choice was a knife. The victim’s were all left at the scene of the crime.
