David Stephen Middleton was born on June 25, 1961, in Massachusetts. He had 2 step siblings in his family. At the age of 18, Middleton was hired as a police cadet by the Boston Police Department and also began attending college. He later resigned from the Boston Police Department and joined the Miami Metro-Dade police force. Middleton was known to have abused his position of power to rape and kidnap a number of women. He was found guilty of false imprisonment and was release from prison after serving 2 years of a 5 year sentence.
Middleton’s murder series is suspected to have begun in 1993, at the age of 32, but is known to have begun in 1994 and ended in 1995. All of his victims were females between the ages of 18 and 45. The victims were murdered in Colorado and Nevada. Middleton would torture his victims and then would either bludgeon or strangle them to death. Most of his victims were bound, whipped and raped for days prior to their murders. Middleton was assisted by his partner, Evonne Haley for his known murders and suspected victims. The victims had their belongings stolen and their underwear kept as a personal totem. The victims were wrapped in sleeping bags and garbage bags and then moved to be buried.
On February 23, 1995, Middleton was arrested on a gun charge and was then held for murder charges when the bodies were discovered. On August 26, 1997, he was found guilty of 2 counts of first degree murder, 1 count of first degree kidnapping, 1 count of grand larceny and 1 count of fraudulent use of a credit card. Middleton was sentenced to death and is still awaiting execution.
