John Wayne Glover was born on November 26, 1932 in Midlands, England.
Although not much is known about Glover’s childhood, police do know that he was convicted of many petty crimes in his teenage years. These crimes were usually stealing clothing and handbags. Throughout his lifetime he had two difficult relationships with older women, this includes his mother and mother-in-law.
In his 30’s Glover emigrated to Australia, where he was convicted of six counts of larceny, stealing, two counts of assaulting women, two counts of indecent assault and one count assault causing bodily harm.
Both prior and during his serial series Glover is suspected of molesting elderly women in retirement and nursing homes. During this time he is also accused of hitting an elderly woman in the face with a brick.
It is believed that Glover began his serial series at the age of 29, but his first charge was was from a murder he committed when he was 57 in 1989. All of his victims were females between the ages of 60 and 93. Glover would typically beat the women unconscious or into submission, then strangle them with their pantyhose and then steal their purses. Glover later claimed that he would remove their clothing so that the crime would seem sexual and because he was impotent it would have been harder to tie him to the crimes.
Glover was arrested on March 20, 1990 for the murders of 6 women. He originally pleaded not guilty because of a diminished responsibility. The judge and psychiatrists later agreed that Glover was sane at the time of his crimes as he not only picked out his victims, but also planned how to spend the money he had stolen from them prior to the offence. He also spent time cleaning the hammer he used to murder with acid. Glover hung himself on September 9, 2005.
