Jon Dunkle was born on October 11, 1960, in Los Angeles, California. Throughout his teen years and early 20s Dunkle was known to have stolen jewelry from his place of work and was arrested for a DUI.
Dunkle’s murder series began in 1981, at the age of 21, and ended in 1985. All of his victims were Caucasian males between the ages of 12 and 15. The victims were typically left at the scene of the crime, one victim was found in his home and the others were discovered at different parks. Dunkle murdered his victims through the use of a knife, a pipe cleaner or a board that had nails in it. All of the victims were within biking distance of where Dunkle lived.
Throughout his murder series, Dunkle attempted to murder 2 people and was arrested for burglary. He was also interviewed by the police in regards to 2 of his murders, before his last one took place.
On October 3, 1986, Dunkle was arrested for the murders of 2 victims. On December 6, 1989 he was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder. He later plead guilty to the murder of his last victim. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and death for the murders he committed on February 7, 1990. Today, Dunkle remains in prison and is attempting to prove that he is insane in order to escape the death penalty.
