Kang Ho-Sun began his murder series in 2006 and continued until 2008, in South Korea, though he had murdered his wife and mother-in-law prior to his murder series. His wife and mother-in-law were murdered when Kang Ho-Sun set fire to the family home while they slept. During his murder series he would kidnap his victims after he approached them for sex. Kang Ho-Sun met many of his victims at karaoke bars in South Korea. After his arrest, Kang Ho-Sun confessed that he would rape his victims and then strangle them with a pair of stockings before burying them.
In early 2009, Kang Ho-Sun was arrested for the murder of a college student. He later confessed to another 7 murders, but denied having murdered his wife and mother-in-law. On April 21, 2009, Kang Ho-Sun was found guilty for the murders of 10 people. He was sentenced to death, however there have been no executions in South Korea since late 1997.
