Kirsten Gilbert was born on November 13, 1967 in Massachusetts. She was the first of two children born in her family.
From a young age, Gilbert became known as a habitual liar and was extremely neurotic. She received her certification as a registered nurse in 1988 and began to work at Leeds Veterans Affairs Medical Center. After a few years of employment, Gilbert was given the nickname “Angel of Death” as so many of her patients would die while under her care.
It is thought that Gilbert began her serial series at the age of 23. She would typically murder male patients through the use of epinephrine to induce heart attacks.
Gilbert was arrested on July 11, 1996 for the murders of four patients and two attempted murders. She was convicted and sentenced to four consecutive life sentences on March 14, 2001. Although Gilbert was only convicted of four murders, she is thought to have been involved in the murders of at least forty other patients.
