Patrick Mackay was born on September 25, 1952, in England. Mackay’s father frequently abused him from the time of his birth until the age of 10, when his father died. From a young age, Mackay was known to have tortured animals and had an obsession with arson. He attempted to murder his mother, aunt and a young boy and it is because of this that he spent many years in mental homes and institutions. At the age of 15 Mackay was diagnosed as a psychopath. After his teen years, Mackay became obsessed with Nazism and referred to himself as “Franklin Bollvolt The First”. He was known to be drunk often or on drugs.
Mackay’s murder series is believed to have begun in 1973, at the age of 21, and ended in 1975. He would murder both men and women who were between the ages of 17 and 89. Most of his victims were either stabbed, beaten to death or were murdered with an axe. Mackay would typically leave his victims at the scene of the crime.
In March of 1975, Mackay was arrested for the murder of Father Crean. While in prison he confessed to murdering 11 people. Mackay was charged with with 5 murders, but 2 of the charges were dropped. In November of 1975 he was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison.
