Sante Kimes was born on July 24, 1934 in Oklahoma City. She was born the third of four children. Kimes’ father abandoned their family when she was 3, this caused her mother to turn to prostitution to support the family. Kimes was adopted at the age of 13. According to records, Sante was raped numerous times by her adoptive father.
In her late 20’s Kimes began to steal, creates credit card accounts under other people’s names and setting fires to her homes to claim the insurance money. Prior to her arrest for the murders, Kimes was arrested numerous times for theft and grand theft.
It is believed that Kimes began her serial series at the age of 46, but has never been charged for this murder. It is believed that Kimes would use her son to assist her with her crimes. Her first formal charge was for a murder at the age of 63, in 1998. Kimes did not have a preference for the gender or race of her victims. She chose to murder her victims through the use of a hit man, hammers, shooting her victims to death, drowning or strangulation.
Kimes was arrested on July 5, 1998 for the murder of Irene Silverman. During this trial she was also charged for possession of weapons, stolen property, robbery, attempted robbery, grand larceny, attempted grand larceny, eavesdropping, second degree murder, forged documents and for the murder of David Kazdin. She was found guilty of all 118 charges which were against her and received 120 years in Bedford Kills Correctional Facility in New York on June 27, 2000.
