Stephen Gerald James Wright was born on April 24, 1958. He was born the second of four children in his family in Erpingham, Norfolk, England.
Prior to his murder series, Wright was married twice and fathered 2 children. Wright was known to be heavily in debt and was arrested in 2001 for theft. He attempted suicide on 2 separate occasions, once with pills and another time with carbon monoxide poisoning.
It is believed that Wright’s murder series began in 2006, at the age of 48, and ended the same year. Some experts claim that his murder series began after seeing his mother for the first time in 40 years. All of Wright’s known victims were females between the ages of 19 and 29. They were all known prostitutes and drug addicts. Wright would choose to strangle all of his victims to death with his hands. The women were found nude, and some were posed in a cruciform position. There was never an attempt to bury the victims, instead, Wright would leave the bodies in the woods.
On December 19, 2006 Wright was arrested for the murders of five women. He was found guilty of all the murders on February 21, 2008 and sentenced to life imprisonment.
