Danny Hembree Takes the Stand

on October 31, 2011 in Alleged Serial Killers by

Accused serial killer Danny Hembree took the stand Friday in the trial for the murder of 17-year-old Heather Catterton. Prosecutors had spent multiple days showing a video of Hembree’s detailed confessions, so the defense really had few alternatives.

Hembree claimed that he woke up, went to the refrigerators to get a beer, then tried to wake Heather up. She did not respond, and was cold to the touch.

So, Hembree finished his beer and tried to decide what to do next.

He said he didn’t want to call the police because he had prior convictions. And he said he eventually confessed to the murder, because he knew it would take the pressure off of him for an unrelated murder change, and he thought that once investigators realized there was no evidence against him on the murder, the charges would be dropped.

Said Hembree:

The only thing I can say is it’s my best interest to get gut level honest and show everything and let you all be the judge of what’s going on.
