Anthony Sowell Execution Delayed
on April 2, 2012 in Serial Killers by Brian CombsAnthony Sowell will not be executed on October 29 as originally scheduled. As usually happens, his execution has been delayed pending an appeal in the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
Such appeals are automatic in a death penalty case, and can go on for years.
His execution has not been rescheduled at this time.
So this is why prisoners can be on death row for years?
Yes. Very much so. Given the flaws in our legal system, a built in pause is probably a good idea.
Although, there’s little question of his actual guilt in this case.
Of course. I only found out about him a few months ago, so I’m a little sketchy on details.
